Lagoon - Why Lagoon 40 Motor Yachts ?

Lagoon presence in the Motor Yacht’s area allows us to offer new navigation possibilities while keeping the comfort and pleasure of being on the water on board a Lagoon catamaran.

Lagoon took inspiration from the recognized sea faring qualities of proven hull shapes to develop its new Motor Yacht range: safe and user friendly catamarans, with incomparable comfort at sea or at a mooring, with a long enough distance cruising capacity to significantly widen their owners horizons.

Indeed, after several years of absence, Lagoon is back into the Motor Yacht world with two new boats : the 630 MY, offshore cruising catamaran that received unanimous praise at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Genoa and Barcelona boat shows; and her “little sister” the 40 MY, inspired by the Lagoon 39 and geared towards user-friendliness and low consumption in navigation.

40 Motor Yacht, family motor cruising made simple

The 40 MY is a beautiful 40’ motor catamaran inspired by the Lagoon 39, and specially designed with user-friendliness, ease of maneuvering and maintenance in mind.

  • The programme

For a day trip, a picnic, to go bathing or on a long cruise, the Lagoon 40 MY will take her crew wherever they want to go -along the coast or out to sea. She is designed for everyone’s pleasure and total peace of mind: easy to handle, easy to maintain, her engines provide remarkable long range cruising capacity at more than respectable average speeds, without needing to stop to fill up at the fuel pump too often.

A whole new concept of cruising under power

  • The hull

The Lagoon 40 MY embodies all the savoir-faire of naval architects VPLP, who have more than earned their stripes when it comes to the sea-going qualities of their yachts. Changes to the hull’s stern make the Lagoon 40 MY comfortable even at high speeds. Grounding is easy and safe thanks to the two keels protecting the hull and rudders.

  • Power

Two Yanmar 75 hp engines with Saildrive transmission:

  • optimised living space in the hulls
  • engines are well-insulated and located away from the cabins
  • ease of manoeuvring ensured by two powerful engines spaced at a distance of nearly 6 metres from each other
  • On deck

The freeboard is relatively high to protect crew from sea spray and broad sidedecks make walking around on deck very safe. The cockpit is more like a terrace and is level with the saloon, designed for kids and grown-ups alike to enjoy a meal or a game of cards in comfort and sheltered from the wind or sun. The sun-bathing area on the cabin top is the ideal place to relax. The steering station, equipped with an effective bimini, provides an excellent view over the entire boat and the person at the helm can stay in direct contact with the crew in the cockpit. Everything - the engine controls, the navigation instruments - is within easy, and efficient, reach.

  • Interior layouts

The 40 MY is available with 3 or 4 double cabins each with en-suite bathroom. The saloon, the fully-equipped galley and the cabins are flooded with natural light thanks to large, fixed windows… and are well ventilated thanks to the many well-positioned opening ports and hatches. As for overall style and elegance, the interior space and woodwork is by Nauta Design.
