Marlow - Marlow gets back onboard as Official Rope Supplier for Clipper 09-10 Race

Clipper Ventures Plc is pleased to announce that Marlow has once again been appointed as the Official Rope Supplier for the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race.

This latest partnership marks the fourth time that Marlow has supplied the cordage for Clipper´s fleet of ocean racing yachts.

Marlow Ropes is recognised around the world for quality performance and innovation and already has a proven track record in supplying cordage for the last three editions of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Marlow´s Leisure Marine Sales Director, Paul Honess, says, "Marlow is very proud to be associated with the Clipper Round the World Race.

"This event fits in perfectly with our product testing. We receive excellent feedback concerning our products regardless of whether our clients are first time sailors or more experienced crew members. This helps us to refine and develop our product range and in turn has enabled us to optimise the running rigging kits for the Clipper 68s.

"The global media attention that the clipper fleet receives is of great benefit for Marlow and its international distributors. Representation in 90 percent of the countries that the Clipper fleet visit during the race helps us to promote the quality and durability of our products to the local markets.

"All at Marlow wish the Clipper teams the very best of luck in the race ahead."

Each of the ten 68-foot ocean racing yachts will be kitted out with 1.3 kilometres of Marlow´s Marlowbraid and Dyneema* giving a total of more than 13 kilometres for the entire fleet. In addition, the Clipper crews and skippers will benefit from Marlow´s expertise in rope splicing during a pre-race training course. They will also receive rope care advice to ensure that they get the maximum lifespan out of the running rigging during the arduous ten month race.

Clipper Race Founder and Chairman, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, says, "Ten internationally sponsored ocean racing yachts compete in the Clipper Race and each has a wardrobe of eleven massive sails which need to be hoisted and controlled by state of the art running rigging. Marlow´s ability to combine leading edge manufacturing techniques with the constant development of new fibres makes them a welcomed supplier to the Clipper 09-10 Race."
