Click & Boat, the first European Peer-‐to-‐Peer boat rental marketplace to offer à daily insurance solution, just completed its first fundraising to speed up its international development.
Funded in the autumn of 2013 by Edouard Gorioux, Jeremy Bismuth and Amir Reza-‐Tofighi and sometimes referred to as the “Yachting Airbnb”, the website already counts more than 130 boats spread across the French coastline (Marseilles, the French Riviera, Corsica, Brittany, Atlantic coastline) but also abroad.
Right after Boatbound’s $ 2.5M raise in the US, Click & Boat, the French leader on the Peer-‐to-‐Peer boat rental market, just closed a first financing of € 200,000 ($ 275,300). Completed by French private investors, the raise is aiming at speeding up the platform development at a national and international scale. “Our objective is to create a complete offer around the Mediterranean Sea, starting from the 2014 season. Our website will be translated in many European languages very soon” explains Jeremy Bismuth.
On average, a boat owner only sails ten days a year, a very low figure compared to the high annual expenses (insurance, pontoon, maintenance…). Click & Boat therefore allows owners to mitigate cost of ownership by renting their boat.
Click & Boat, which gets pay through a commission on every booking made, offers a fully comprehensive insurance by the day to boat owners (covering up to $ 8M), a reassuring innovation for both owners and renters.
“Our boat owners members offer a cheaper rate compared to traditional renters, but more importantly, we answer a need: on hundreds of harbors or beaches, there are no “Boat Rentals”. Thousands of boats are standing still without ever moving. On Click & Boat, you can find types of boats that traditional renters rarely have, starting from the wooden yacht in Brittany to the offshore boat in Saint-‐Tropez” explains Edouard Gorioux. Enough to enjoy yourself on the water with unique sensations.
The start-‐up is currently composed by 7 co-‐workers and will very soon join the Paris Dauphine Incubator.
